Topic outline

  • LOCAL MOBILITY FORUM

The Local Mobility Forum is a stakeholder engagement instrument that is used to regularly gather stakeholders involved in the transport planning process - such as municipal departments, public transport companies, associations of public transport passengers and cyclists, city or district councillors, shopkeeper associations - to discuss solutions to transport problems. It facilitates communication and improves institutional cooperation in transport planning processes. The outcomes of the Forum are subsequently shared with decision makers and, thereby, also support the improvement of local policies or adjustments to existing or new projects.

Within the SUMP-PLUS project, specifically within the different City Labs, the Local Mobility Forum helped to bring together the main mobility stakeholders at the local level for an active dialogue concerning the key issues related to mobility in the city. In this way, the instrument also supported the implementation of the PATHWAYS and LINKS concepts.
For more information about the Local Mobility Forum and how it can be implemented in your city, check out the relevant factsheet below.

In addition, more information about the importance of stakeholder engagement and other engagement instruments is covered in Sub-course 1c "Stakeholder engagement for long-term transition planning" and Sub-course 2c "Engaging stakeholders and citizens during measure implementation," both of which are found under the course category "Supporting the Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning Process."
